Every journey starts with the first step

Psychotherapy serves as a space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a safe and supportive space. It’s a collaborative process where we will work together to identify and address the pieces that are impacting your mental health and overall well-being.

“We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.”

Brené Brown

Hi, I am Aria Kenney, a licensed psychotherapist in California

During my time as a therapist, I’ve worked in various settings including schools, nonprofit clinics, and private practice. My work thus far has incorporated work with clients from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and more. I do specialize and have an extensive background in working with those impacted by sexual violence.

My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration. I believe that every individual has their unique strengths and abilities, and that therapy is an opportunity to build upon those strengths to achieve greater fulfilment in life. I work from a collaborative approach, tailoring the work done in sessions to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual. I also incorporate somatic techniques where it fits to strengthen, support, and deepen an individual’s connection with their own body.

I graduated from Santa Clara University, with my Master’s in Counselling Psychology. I continue to deepen my work and expertise through ongoing consultation and training in psychodynamic and somatic techniques and theory.

Clinical Specialties

Psychodynamic therapy involves an emphasis and attention to relationships and the impact of those on development through various stages of life.

Somatic Therapy focuses on building the connection between mind and body. It can include techniques to deepen an individuals’ relationship to their self and body, emphasizing a holistic approach and treatment for well-being.

Trauma-Informed Therapy serves to recognize the widespread pervasiveness of trauma, and the potential of each individual to have been impacted in some way from it. It highlights the importance of safety, choice, collaboration, trust, and empowerment.

Every path is different

Together, we’ll create a comprehensive care plan incorporating your story, goals, and strengths. From that, we’ll build out how best to navigate and support you alongside your journey.

It’s a collaborative process where you and I will build a relationship and work together to identify and address the challenges that are impacting your mental health and wellbeing.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers, like ourselves, need to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask us for a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling.
